I was inspired when I saw that someone was selling a spray bottle just for Olive Oil but for $20. Not me. So I bought a small spray bottle for $1.49 and rinsed it with boiling water and a small amount of bleach and let it dry.
I'm loving it.
I keep a small rag pushed out of sight on the kitchen floor. If a spill occurs, I can easily use my foot to snag it and clean up the spill while continuing to multitask. Saves time, no bending, no washing hands after.
Foaming soap can easily be made using an empty foaming soap container. Simply squeeze in a couple tablespoons of dishwashing liquid such as Ivory or Dawn.. Fill the container with water. Shake.
Some experimenting may be necessary to get the proper ratio of liquid soap and water.
My coffee maker needs to be descaled and it takes a large amount of white vinegar. I don't trash the vinegar, I re-use it first. A cup can be tossed into the dish washer as an additive. You can heat the vinegar and then soak a shower head in it to remove scaling. You can wrap a rag or paper tow...
Occasionally I need some extra cash and find that working at a place with employee discounts helps a lot.
I roll my fitted sheets rather than try to fold them neatly into a rectangle. That way when I need a flat sheet, I can see which ones are fitted easily and not unfold something I don't want to use.
I bought an Altus balance disc and a co-worker mentioned her hyperactive son takes one to school to sit on. It keeps him in constant motion but confined to a seat.
That works for me! I sit on mine occasionally and I notice my abs and obliques making constant small adjustments to stay balanc...
I like nuts as one of my daily snacks. I do not have the ability to stop once I start unless I pre-measure a quarter cup. So now I keep a small measuring cup with my nuts at work. Maybe I should post this in saving money too because the pound of nuts lasts much longer.
If packing up a house, don't dither over items you're not sure if you want them packed or are unsure how to pack them. Keep moving and working on the sure things. You'll find while you're showering or doing other tasks, your mind will be working behind the scenes to help you decide.
If I'm going to have a bad treat (think Hersey bar or ice cream from a stand), I find it easier to toss half of it BEFORE I start eating it rather than just eating half. I can't eat just half if it's in front of me. So for those few seconds when I still have a bit of self-respect and self-control,...
