Strict Diet Regimen for a Few Days w/Weight Loss Being its own Motivation

After 8 months of struggling to get back on track and stay there for more than a few days, I finally found what works for me... I put myself on a regimented diet with very low carbs for a specific time period (The 17 Day Diet). I stopped craving carbs and saw a fast weight loss on the scale. Finally losing a significant amount of weight in a few weeks has made all the difference. I am back...and here to stay!! emoticon

Use the Notes on Nutrition Tracker

I started using the notes section in the nutrition tracker to generally lay out my plan for what I will eat each day, first thing in the morning. This seems to reduce the amt of time I spend in front of the frig/pantry deciding what to eat...and ultimately, I am making better choices.

Blogging

Forcing yourself to blog about how you feel requires that you take the time to take stock of how you are doing - re-connecting the mind and body. Writing it down does not allow you to easily dismiss how you are feeling. The activity of blogging can turn around your attitude and perspective in a very short time.

Take Advantage of the SP Exercise Videos

It took me a year before I finally tried the SP exercise videos. They are great. I especially like the 7 - 10 minute videos in the Boot Camp. No matter what the day is like or how hard the exercise is in the video, I can do anything for 10 minutes. So can you!!

Create a Personal Challenge & Be Accountable

Establish 3 - 5 things that you will do differently for one week and then hold yourself accountable by blogging regularly about how well you did achieving those objectives. Include food, exercise, sleep or other categories. It works!!

Read your own old Blogs

Now that I have been with SP 10 months, I occasionally go back and re-read my old blogs...what a wonderful, inspiring journey I have taken...and I can also see how far I have come!

The morning after as motivation

Next time you are struggling with eating something you probably shouldn't be eating, try hard to recall the feeling you get in the morning when you wake up after a healthy eating day...then, contrast that with how you feel after an out of control day. Remind yourself that you can control this and feel great every day!

Blog, Blog, Blog

Whenever you feel down, disheartened, waning motivation or confused, take a few minutes to blog about what you are feeling...even if it is to say that you aren't sure what you are feeling. It will help with the mind-bond connection and keep you on the right path.

Drink tea to avoid the restaurant bread basket

When you sit down at a restaurant, immediately order tea. It will give you something to do so you won't be focused on the bread basket when it comes.

Enjoy the Journey!

Focus not on the scale, but on how you are starting to feel stronger, more energetic and fit! It is this wonderful feeling that is the goal and what they mean by "enjoying the journey"! emoticon
