I make my own laundry detergent. The site says around $28 a year. Honestly, I made mine before Thanksgiving and haven't even used 2 bottles worth, so I think it could last more than a year. Also, if you're a coupon user, you can stock up on your supplies by using your coupons. Here's the link http://www.howdoesshe.com/ch
I have been using freecycle.org to get rid of unwanted items & get what I need. The only downfall I have consistantly had is that I tend to run into some flaky people when it comes to being on time to pick an item up from me. Other than that, I've gotten some cool things & gifted some as well. :)
I have started seeking out rebates on grocery items. A good site for this is http://www.refundsweepers.co
I've really become an avid coupon clipper within the last six months. I buy the local Sunday papers, all three. It gives us good reading material as well as a variety of coupons. I do NOT buy coupons online. Why? Well, I ask those members of our family & my friends for the coupons they do not use. I print off coupons for free online. I've found that by buying what I need while using a coupon I have gotten my family more items for less money.
With two kids, student loans & other typical bills to pay, vacations are often an expense we have to trim. In order to still be able to get away while saving money I've done several things. I look to sites like hotels.com, travelocity.com, & orbitz..com to get cheaper hotel rooms. I've also used sites like groupon to get deals for when we're there. Also, if you pay a small yearly fee you can be a AAA member & it gets you access to cheaper car rentals, hotels, vacations, etc.
I've recently been using restaurant.com to get gift certificates to local restaurants. I can get a $25 gift certificate for $10. If you google restaurant.com coupon codes you can sometimes find codes that will get the gift certificates for as low as $2. They are restrictions, depending on the restaurant (i.e. can't be used for alcohol, valid certain days, no holidays, need to spend a certain amount, etc.). If you can be slightly flexible, it's worth it.
