Chanting or Meditating for at least 15 minutes a day

Whatever Negative thoughts or doubts I have in my mind, when I sit down and meditate while concentrating visually on a single object of devotion, the static in my mind clears and the negative, angry, doubtful feelings dissipate like fluffy clouds. Positivity and resourcefulness take their place! Try it!

Rest When You're Sick

I was so sick on Tuesday night that I couldn't keep anything down. I lay down. Most of today I lay down as well. Sometimes, the best thing to do when you are sick is to lay down until you get to feeling better. I was able to do a little bit of exercise tonight.

No matter how bad things get/appear, do not give up hope

Even when one seems absolutely broke, don't give up hope--keep taking as good care of oneself as possible under the circumstances, maintain a positive attitude, and make causes that one can to elevate oneself from the current situation.

Groats

You can get raw oats from Whole Foods in Bulk foods. They're inexpensive. Cook up 1 cup in 4 cups water the night before--until boiling. Then the next morning, take a cup of this mixture and heat it through til boiling again, mixed with raisins, or other dried fruit, if you like! umm. Yummy! emoticon

Giving In

It's very easy to slip into a depression and then eat too much or eat the wrong things--i.e. candy, etc. Allow yourself 1 day to do nothing but sleep and/or eat, then at night, plan three productive things to do the next day. It will help pull you out of the negative spiral.

Walk Extra with a Puppy Stroller

If you are walking a dog who has short legs, take a puppy stroller with you--when the dog gets tired, put him in the stroller and keep walking--this way you don' t have to derail your planas for a nice long walk!

Keep a Clean House

I find that if I tidy up around me, keep at the dishes, and vacuum the house, I feel better, emotionally, and am better able to function. You can literally 'see your way clear' to other projects and tend to feel less overwhelmed.

Plan Snacks

If we plan a whole variety of different snacks and store them packed up in the fridge or pantry, we can account for our in-between-meal eating and keep on track with our calories for the day! emoticon
