I took my scale out of the bathroom and placed it in my kitchen near my refrigerator. Practically right in front of the door. Also, I put a huge sticky on the refrigerator with my goal weight written in bright bold red numbers. A reminder and a visualization. Every time I walk in the kitchen to the frig. the scale and sticky great me.
If you hit a plateau or feel otherwise frustrated, load up canned goods or sacks of flour/sugar into plastic bags totalling the amount of weight you have lost to date and literally carry them up and down the steps - even 5 lbs feels heavy after a while - the physical reminder helps you see how far you have come.
Make a paper clip chain, each paper clip representing a pound lost, use a magnet to attach it to your fridge at home or filing cabinet at work. This gives you a visual and tactile reminder of how much weight you've lost, plus it's fun to keep adding those paper clips on to last weeks chain!
After I stumble I become less motivated and sometimes find it hard to get myself back on track. I heard a quote that helps remind me to keep at it. I don't know who said it but it helps me. "You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there."
Start each and every day like it's the first day of your diet. You get a second chance to start all over each and every day. You start each day with a fresh slate. Don't worry about what you did yesterday. You can do it!!!
