When I wear my pedometer, I check it now and then throughout the day to see how I'm doing. If it's low, it spurs me on to get going and try to reach my goal of 10,000 before the day is over! It doesn't get me SparkPoints, but it does give me motivation!
In the past, I would wear some of my favorite earrings, only to discover that sometime during the day, one had fallen out, and was gone forever! Now, I always save the little plastic backings that keep them attached to the card they come on, and I slip them on the back of the earring when I wear them... and they never fall off any more!
I found myself just plugging along and that wasn't working very well! I decided to list out the things that I know will help me to reach my goal and dedicate myself to doing those things. I also posted them on my SparkPeople and FB page to keep me accountable!
I get a greeting card, and don't always save it... someone else wrote it, after all! However, when my dear husband writes me a short poem or note of love on even a piece of scrap paper, I treasure it like gold! I tell him to PLEASE save the money of an expensive commercialized card and just speak from his heart, and I am so BLESSED! 23 years today!
I asked Coach Nancy if she could recommend a good low-priced pedometer, and sure enough, she did! She said it's an Omron Pedometer, and I could get it at Walgreens. Sure enough, it was on sale 1/2 price and I got it for $9.99!!! It works GREAT! (I got it beside the blood pressure products by the pharmacy)
My bread machine went out last week, and I don't have the extra money to get another one just yet. I resorted to making the whole wheat bread recipe I used to make when my adult kids were little, and doubled it! It didn't take that long, and now, the freezer is full of nice, healthy, homemade bread!
I had a cast on my foot for over a month, and now, a boot. I could have used any excuse I could think of to quit exercising, but I did NOT want to start over, so I kept doing what I COULD do, under Dr's care, and I still am! I have only gained THREE POUNDS since my surgery! It CAN be done!
I am learning that the more I focus on the bright side (and sometimes, this is a matter of determination), my life is changing for the better in all aspects! I'm more grateful; I sleep better; I want to share the brighter side with others; I smile a whole lot more; I have more energy!
