Low fat snack

Try slicing cucumbers and using them as a "chip" with salsa. Very tasty, crunchy and very low calorie. Just be careful about the sodium on the salsa you select. This fits the bill when others are eating tortilla chips with salsa.

Forgive Yourself

After a misstep, no matter how big or small, you have to forgive yourself and look forward not back. Forget how many times you've tried and failed. Forget the cheesecake with whipped cream. It has no reflection on you as a person; it is only what it is. Move on and feel proud of yourself that you have,

When Struggling with motivation

When I am struggling with motivation, not wanting to enter on the food tracker and everything seems to hard I will focus on one small task, such as recording how much water I have had for the day. That way I have accomplished something even it is something small!

The Secret to Delicious Brussels Sprouts, Finally!

Brussels sprouts are great for you! They contain "sulforaphane", a chemical that is believed to have potent anti-cancer properties. They are also a source of indole-3-carbinol, which boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells. But, I've never liked them because the ones I had were always boiled (which actually ruins their health benefits). That is until I tried them roasted in the oven with just a little bit of olive oil, salt & pepper. 30 mins at 400F. Delicious!

How to calculate the calories

To lose weight, multiply your present weight by 11 and subtract 500 calories from the total. This is how many calories you can have each day to lose 1 pound per week. Recalculate every Saturday at weigh-in.

Peanut butter-a-holic

I am a peanut butter lover could eat it all the time :) Well I recently found PB2 which is a pressed peanut butter. It basically removes all of the oil leaving you with a powdered peanut butter that you add to dishes or favorite drink!!! Way less calories and still get the peanut butter flavor :) Their website also has lots of great recipes. PB2 only has 45 calories so this cuts about 150 calories compared to regular peanut butter emoticon

Think ahead!

When I know we will be going to a restaurant for dinner, I will pull the menu from the internet and make my choices in the morning. I'll enter them in my nutrition tracker right away and make the rest of the day's choices based on what I plan to eat. Makes ordering food so easy and carefree!!
