When needing a snack, I look for Protein!

I have to snack. My body requires it as I have to keep my blood sugar at an even keel throughout the day or I will go into starvation mode for eating and then being ravenously hungry,will "wolf "the food down,stopping my hunger pangs and starting my Hiatal Hernia a-going and then I am going to need the Tums. So, when I need to snack {and I snack when I feel a little hungry}, I go look for PROTEIN! I never get enough of it in my diet and so I have discovered that I can eat it as a snack ...

Start the Day With A Glass of Water as the FIRST Thing....

I have found that when I start the day with a glass of water FIRST thing in the morning BEFORE I eat or drink anything else, I tend to eat LESS and I eat MORE healthy foods for that day plus I am MORE LIKELY to get in my 8 glasses of water a day !!!

A Quick Way to Change FOODS When I Preplan The Same Daily Snack!

Using my Nutrition Tracker daily when I was losing the wt, is what HELPED ME THE MOST!!! Now, during Maintenance,I try to use it daily ,but can't always get to the computer! So, I usually will try to plan ahead what will be eaten during the week that is the SAME~for example~ SNACK~ Choc. Cheerios & 1/2 Fat Free Milk is my daily snack that helps my Folate intake. But if I run OUT of Cheerios during the week, I'll substitute Honey Bunches of Oats w/Almond cereal [1 cup] w/same amt of milk.

Mulching the Garden Helps Me So Much!

I have started a herb garden in addition to my veggie garden[with flowers outlining it!] and since my hubby mulched the herb garden for me, those weeds are being stifled and much LESS showing UP! So, it's off to the garden supply store to get mulch for the rest of the veggie garden now! Am planning to show photos in my gallery of the gardens as they progress!The mulching also SAVES WATER as it helps to keep the ground moist so LESS WATER is needed!

Flossing regularly!

I am going to the dentist today for a temporary crown after getting a root canal done last week! I used to floss once a month! But now after seeing my difficulties @ the dentist AND hearing about a report on flossing that deals with our daily health [it was on the news a few weeks ago] .Now I DO floss daily!! My dentist had TOLD me this years before!Sometimes, it takes a while for the information to sink in....

Showing my Preschooler Healthy Habits!

Since I have been on SP, I have learned some healthy habits that I am passing on to my preschooler. I don't drink soda or have it in the house!{We only drink it @ birthday parties!}. I don't chew gum and we don't have that in the house! I drink water daily as does my hubby and so our preschooler does ,too! I am PROUD to start small with these healthy objectives accomplished daily! I also eat oatmeal with fruit almost every day to keep my cholestrol normal!

Put a date on that battery!

I have a battery in weight scale/body fat scale! And I DON'T like having to replace it as one MORE thing on my to-do list!But I have found that writing the date [with a permanent sharpie marker ] on the battery helps me to see when I last replaced the battery! And though it may be a year or so, it SEEMS faster!

Focus on Your Achievements ,not on what you feel is failure!

I have been on SP for a little over a year & a half now and I have lost the 20 lbs & got down to a healthy wt ,though the maintenance is still a difficulty though not as hard as it used to be! I have a problem area ~my belly ~ that will not flatten b/c I do not have the discipline to stay away from some sweets ALL the time,but I have learned that to my surprise,while I have continued my workouts and eaten healthIER, my OTHER body parts ,like my shoulders...

What I DON'T keep in the House on a Regular basis!

Cream Cheese, cookies,brownies,soda at all [no diet,nothing],cupcakes,donut

high cal pizza[we go for Kashi Med. pizza @ 290 for a 1/3 slice],cakes,pies,ice cream[we go for frozen yogurt instead!~our fave=Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt by Dreyer's!]. We know we eat processed foods,just changing our preferences on what not to eat! What foods do you keep out of your house?

I'm DONE doing the Potluck thing with Foods that are unhealthy!

I have had my LAST unhealthy contribution to a potluck !!! I have a terrible sweet tooth and I tend to indulge it when I bake for a potluck! This last time I baked cookie cups and only two were eaten@ my MOMS Club! Everyone in My MOMS Club does NOT eat healthy! We have a fundraiser set up for Rubio's this week alone! So when I go to a potluck from now on it's fruit salad I'll be bringing! And when I go to the funddraiser .it's salad I'll eat! What about you ? Do you bring healthy food to ...
