REALLY managing your portion control!

I have found that when I am eating a meal{for the past 3 mos.},I can slowly lower my intake of certain items like cottage cheese, ice cream and margarine and I don't miss the extra helping at all. For example, take margarine on toast.I use Smart Balance Light because it's high in omega-3's .

Just discovered Almond Milk!

I LOVE dairy products ,especially milk.I had a terrible time at first going downfrom whole to 2% to1% to nonfat. But I have got used to it.I discovered almond milk by way of reading about in Good Housekeeping magazine in the Biggest Loser cover story.Just 60 calories a cup!

Wearing the Garmin Heart Monitor helps motivate me!

My hubby purchased a Garmin heart monitor that has a band you wear under your shirt around your chest and a wrist monitor that you activate{after plugging it in for at least an hour}.Then it measures[ besides heart rate] calories burned for whatever activity you list-walk,run or bike{our uses}.

Keep it OUT of the house!

My family and even my secret pal have sent candy in the mail on holidays. I have learned to get rid of it and not keep it in the house! I don't buy candy,cookies,cakes,pies,doughnuts,unhealthy snack foods because I will eat them all up all at once!

Can you Overeat on a special occasion & lose weight?

I PLANNED for the birthday cake and sausage pizza together by adding their totals on the Nutrition tracker AHEAD of time so I could "spend' my calories wisely while still enjoying myself!

My Toddler keeps me ACTIVE!

On days when I don't feel like working out,my toddler will give me the basketball,wiffle ball or jumprope and say "play,Mommy!"I have to remember to make exercise fun and think as he does-to play!!

I have the most difficult time when "spending"my calories on dinner! I love that there are sparkrecipes available!To help myself,I check out the comment BEFORE making the recipe because that might help me alter it for my liking,my cholestrol level or my hiatal hernia--no spicy foods.

Up the Cardio ,if you've upped the strength training!

I had lost 10 lbs.the 1st month with strength training,then hit a plateau for 3-4 days.I upped the cardio on advice from a fellow Sparker and it got my weight loss going again!
