Take Your Time

Be patient with yourself. Changing the way you live your life takes time and energy. It won't happen overnight. Give your self some time to make tiny adjustments first and celebrate each success while keeping your eyes on the goals you have set for yourself.

Avoiding trigger food while shopping

I am susceptible to temptation so when grocery shopping I avoid the aisles that I know are dangerous for me. I avoid the cookie and candy aisles and concentrate on the healthy sections. I shop meats, fruits, veggies, breads and grains, looking for whole wheat and oats, and dairy where I stock up on yogurt, trying to ignore the yummy tempting ice creams. This also saves me time, especially when I remember to bring my list and can be specific in my hunting and gathering! emoticon

Dealing with Stress

I make a conscious mental check of my muscles periodically when sitting at the computer or at a table discussion. As a child when I was even shorter than I am now, I sat with only the balls of my feet touching the floor because I couldn't reach the floor from my chair. This evolved into a habit. I must remind myself to keep my feet flat on the floor and to relax my shoulders as well. Periodic stretches at my desk help relieve this tension as well.

Grocery shopping

Eat before you go to the grocery. If you're not really hungry you will be less likely to want to put everything you see into your cart. Shopping on an empty stomach makes everything look tempting!
