It took me nearly a year to lost 30 lbs but being patient and persistent makes a difference. So does a commitment to minimum of 10 minutes day exercise, tracking, drinking water & staying connected to SparkPeople :-)
I was losing very slowly until I went alcohol free for 40 days. Weight came off much quicker then. Now I strive for balance. Drink alcohol only 2 days per week max. Amazing what this little change can do to speed up weight loss.
I started with a commitment to do 10 minutes of exercise a day 109 days ago. Some days it was hard just to get that 10 minutes in. I gradually upped my daily goal to 15 minutes and shoot for 200 cardio minutes per week. But it started with a commitment for 10 minutes a day. THIS goal alone has been the most important change I've made while on spark people
I knew that alcohol had calories but didn't listen and drank daily anyway. Then I gave up alcohol and like magic, the weight started to come off. I've more than doubled the rate on my 2nd 10 lbs vs my 1st 10 lbs lost when I was drinking. It feels like I am cheating! And when not drinking, I'm less likely to overeat and more likely to get some exercise in. Plus with the extra calories available for my daily allotment - I have more choices in the foods I eat.
Had no CLUE how many steps I took each day until I got a FItBit for Christmas. He's like a personal trainer I take with me each day - encouraging me to move more and collect 10,000 steps/day. I love how I can score lots of steps just doing a couple of laps up/down my street with the dog. And the scale has FINALLY started to move downward!
Just starting with the 10 min a day of exercise has caused a snowball of positive results. I've kept on that streak and added others 1 at a time. The 10 minutes often turns into 15-60 and I'm feeling so mentally (and physically) healthy I've been using SP more and more for encouragement & motivation.
