Looking Forward

I was at a seminar yesterday and heard a great quote...

Windshields were made bigger than rear view mirrors for a reason... So we spend more time looking forward and less time looking back

There is no secret

Once I realized there is no secret to losing weight and getting in shape, it set me free. I could focus on simply eating less and moving more instead of wasting time and money trying every "secret" that comes down the line.

Point, Counterpoint! Argue yourself to a new, healthy life.

When I feed myself excuses: I don't want to exercise today. I'm too tired, for example... I immediately counter with the opposite argument: Yes, I'm tired, but so what? Exercise will give me energy and stamina. Or if I'm eyeballing a piece of cake I think...It will taste delicious, but oh, the sugar and calories! Is the guilt worth it? Fresh fruit isn't as tasty, but it will help make you healthy. (Please see accompanying note.)
So make a case for yourself. Fight for your health, you're worth it!

Drink your water don't sip on it all day and THINK you are getting in enough. Also you may need to get in more than 64 oz a day to lose. I have to drink 120oz or more in a day to lose. It gets easy with time. I use to gag on it but now I don't mind so much.
Your body needs the water to flush out the fat cells and to function right. Did you know that you breath out over a cup of water a day.

Do a little more

I always try to do just a little more than before... in everything. Examples: I used to brush my teeth leaning on the counter. One day, I made a conscious decision to remain standing upright, the next day I started moving my feet while I brushed. When I'm working out on the treadmill, I try to stay at a higher speed/elevation longer than the last time, even if it's just 30 seconds longer. This way I can become more active in the little things I do and continue to push myself!
