Make Your Own Coffee Pods

If you have a coffee maker that uses single use coffee pods and you're having a hard time finding them as I am or just find them too expensive...make your own. I found tea bags (no tea, just the bags) at Whole Foods (100 for $4.99). They are larger than the single tea bags so I trimmed the bag a bit. Open the bag and spoon in 4 tbsp of coffee and fold over and staple at the fold. I made 40 pods for $6.57 or 17 cents each.

Keep Salad Greens Crisp

Making your salad ahead is a time saver and keeping the greens fresh and crisp is easy. Wet a few paper towels with cold water then squeeze out the excess. Lay the paper towels over the salad and add a few ice cubes to keep cool. To serve just take the paper towels off and discard. Your salad will be nice and crisp.

Poach Pods

If you hate the messiness of poached egg strings then this is the product for you. Crack an egg into these "pods", place in a pan with 1 1/2" water, cover and cook for 4 minutes and there you have it, perfectly cooked poached eggs!

Two Healthy Treats In One

Dark Chocolate and Almonds are both good for you. I buy Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds and prepackage a portion so I can grab one on the go. They are delicious.

Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses

There are nine Kisses per serving so what I do is split them between breakfast, lunch and dinner so I never feel deprived. It's just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Large bagel vs mini bagel

Make the switch from a large bagel to a mini bagel and you'll be saving about 3 servings and 175 calories. And instead of half a large bagel a whole small doesn't make you think you are missing something.

Walk and Talk

Cordless phones are great for mobility...use the time to exercise and walk while you are talking. Walk around the house, in the garden or down the driveway and back.

Try this salad dressing tip if you love creamy dressings.

Order your creamy dressing on the side then dip your fork before each bite. You get flavor with each bite but us only a fraction of what you would if you poured it over your salad. Try it...you'll be amazed.
