If you have a coffee maker that uses single use coffee pods and you're having a hard time finding them as I am or just find them too expensive...make your own. I found tea bags (no tea, just the bags) at Whole Foods (100 for $4.99). They are larger than the single tea bags so I trimmed the bag a bit. Open the bag and spoon in 4 tbsp of coffee and fold over and staple at the fold. I made 40 pods for $6.57 or 17 cents each.
Making your salad ahead is a time saver and keeping the greens fresh and crisp is easy. Wet a few paper towels with cold water then squeeze out the excess. Lay the paper towels over the salad and add a few ice cubes to keep cool. To serve just take the paper towels off and discard. Your salad will be nice and crisp.
If you hate the messiness of poached egg strings then this is the product for you. Crack an egg into these "pods", place in a pan with 1 1/2" water, cover and cook for 4 minutes and there you have it, perfectly cooked poached eggs!
Order your creamy dressing on the side then dip your fork before each bite. You get flavor with each bite but us only a fraction of what you would if you poured it over your salad. Try it...you'll be amazed.
