I set a timer for 15 minutes when I sit down at the computer. When the timer goes off it is time to get up and do something while moving about. Tada---more housework don. If you want, time the housework for 15 minutes and then back to the computer.
When I began exercising, there were so many programs I wanted to try! We'd go broke purchasing every single workout DVD out there, right? So, instead of buying them, I get them free on YouTube. Although not every program is there, you can find several popular ones including: Zumba, Leslie Sansone, Denise Austin, Tae-Bo, P90X, The Tracy Anderson Method, Insanity... You can also do what I did, create a personalized playlist of the videos you like best for a customized, FREE workout!
What I miss the most in low calorie diets is dessert. I cannot eat just one or two cookies. For 100 calories, I have a sixteen ounce root beer float. I use diet root beer and one-half cup (100 calories) of slow churned low fat vanilla ice cream. Mmmmmmm delicious and extremely satisfying!
Every week I sign up for the Spark Virtual Races and post my time... either walking or running. If you walk (or run) at least a mile once a week you are eligible to post your time and collect a trophy! If you aren't doing this already be sure and check it out.
Whenever I turn down a high calorie food instead of feeling deprived, I note it in my food diary and the calorie content of that food. On days where I very nearly don't go to the gym I note that down also. At the end of the week, I tot up how many extra calories I would have consumed/ not burned and take it away from my loss. Seeing the weight I would still be had I given into these impulses keeps me on the straight and narrow. Instead of feeling deprived, I feel empowered! :)
