When craving a snack, I rely on those little bite size pieces of chocolate or something small. I even eat what I consider to be low fat. But I am finding I need to truly read the labels on things. I discovered 10 twizzlers has over 400 calories & more sugar than soda. 3 miniature pb cups has more sugar than a glazed donut. I know now I really need to read labels when giving in to cravings. They may appear innocent, but overtime they can be deadly. Low fat doesn't mean low calorie or low sugar!
A bad day is a part of life, just as a good day is, except we simply need to learn to suck it up and continue to move forward!! Its all a matter of balance! Deal with it, learn from it, then forget it and move on!!
I had trouble finding can pumpkin lately & canning fresh pumpkin takes time w/ peeling, cooking, sticking to the pot, & putting it in jars. My mother told me about baking them. I may never use can pumpkin again. Put one small pie pumpkin in a 350 deg oven & baked for 1 1/2 hours (until real brown). Took out & cooled for about 15 min. Sliced in half, scooped out seeds and the skin literally peeled off. Put the pulp in bowl, mixed w/hand mixer & 38 oz of creamy pumpkin ready to use. So easy
When going on vacation, we say, "Well Iíll be on vacation, so I really hope I donít gain too much weight." Why should we expect to? Life happens & it includes all types of scenarios. If we get up each day & plan our day, why should it stop while on vacation or at holiday time? Do we look for reasons to go ďoffĒ our plan? That type of thinking gets us in trouble. We need to plan for each day, whether at home or away. There is no reason to fear bad eating when we plan appropriately & stick to it.
Learn not to forbid certain foods. That almost always triggers cravings. Allow them on special occasions & in moderate portions. Its not the peanut butter cup thats the deal breaker, its the entire bag. When treats are incorporated in our daily meal plans we don't feel the need to splurge like theres no tomorrow. Plan, Measure & track your treats & you won't see them as the monsters they appear to be.
When sitting down to a meal, treat yourself like a king or queen. Use your good dishes & cloth napkins. Set an appealing table for yourself. If you want to eat healthy, make your table setting healthy & appealing looking too. Use a pretty tablecloth, set a flower on the table, play soft music. Meal time is to be relaxing. Concentrate on the food you are eating & treat yourself well. Enjoy the goodness of your meal & your surroundings. You deserve it!
Problems, stumbles & falls are inevitable in this weightloss journey. I am learning they WILL come, so in order to get thru them w/little scarring, I need to be prepared. If I allow my emotions to try & tackle them I will fail. I must use my wits, my knowledge, my determination, my drive & desire to move past the mishap & allow nothing to stand in my way. Weightloss is like a job; it requires brainstorming & problem-solving. I need to find what works & when it doesn't, prepare a plan of attack
When we crave junk food or desire to go on a binge eating frenzy, instead of beating ourselves up, we need to learn to ask ourselves WHY. Those desires come from somewhere & its usually not food related. Learn to ask why we want it? Recognize triggers & determine to find alternative ways to feed those triggers without the use of food. Knowledge is power & we can beat the cravings without beating ourself up!!
Dining out when trying to eat healthy doesn't have to be scary or a disaster. If the restaurant is a chain, check online before going out & you can read the nutritional info & select your food prior to going so you aren't tempted by all the pix on the menu. Also if you tell the waitress how you want your food prepared, they will be more than happy to check with the cook. Remember they work for YOU. The customer is always right!!
The scale is a tool for healthy living, not a measure for success. We should only depend on it as a means of keeping us on track, not to evaluate our success or determine our attitude. It will never calculate how healthy we are inside. It will never declare our value & worth. Being healthy is so much more than a mere number on the scale. Health takes in our emotional, physical & mental wellness. A number will never reflect all that. Donít allow the scale to dictate your progress
