I have learned since being on Spark People that moderation in all things has helped me reach my goals. I eat the foods I love but only eat them in moderation so that I don't deprive myself. It is working for me. Then I don't feel like I am missing anything.
Whenever I go out to eat, I always ask for a glass of water as well as whatever I want to drink, unsweetened tea. I drink the water before my meal comes and then my drink with my meal. Good way to get in my water for the day!
After all the years trying to lose weight, I have finally achieved my goals. One way I have been successful is that I don't deny myself my guilty pleasures. I make sure they fit into my calorie goals for the day but I still eat them. I make sure that all my other meals are healthier choices.
Every day during the week except weekends I have an afternoon snack. A bag of celery sticks, baby carrots and cherry tomatoes. I also have a piece of fruit and a Fiber One bar. It really helps me get through the afternoon and be ready to exercise when I leave work!
In the morning before I take my shower, I do calf raises on the shower stall door. I also do wall push-ups or close arm wall push-ups after I put conditioner in my hair while I wait the 2 minutes. At the end of my shower I have a squeegee that I use to clean the doors. 3 exercises in one shower!
I usually TIVO a lot of shows that I enjoy. In the morning at around 5:30 when I get up, I march in place and watch a show. Great way to start the day and also gets a lot of steps in before breakfast.
