The best thing I was ever told was to think of my calories as a budget. Know how many you can have each day and before you eat something ask yourself if you can afford it. If it's worth the amount you have to spend and you have the calories eat it if not rethink it.
Tighten your Abs while you walk and you will be building core strength. Physical therapist had me do this after I had fusion surgery. You can really feel the strengthening. Just tighten or suck in your belly focusing on the area near your navel while you walk. Works for me!
The Fitbit has been a wonderful motivator for me to step up the exercise. My goal is 10000 steps and 5 miles each day. Having a way to be kept accountable has made all the difference.

When I want to eat something I don't need, usually a Snickers, I grab my belly fat. I reminds me that I already have a Snickers in storage.
I have a large asparagus patch and my favorite way to cook it is to spray a few spears with olive oil, dust with garlic powder, wrap in a paper thin slice of deli ham and put it on the grill until the ham is crispy and browned.

I make up a new Frig Salad Snack every other day, with things I really like: kidney beans, cukes, cilantro!, sweet onions, avacado, garbanzo beans, anything else I can find in the fridge. I add a dash of olive oil (for a treat) and a bunch of vinegar and a sprinkling of salt. This is covered up...
