Putting my extra bedding up this morning, I stepped up on a stool to put a blanket away. Stepping down, I decided that felt good, so why not do a few more. That got 30 reps of stair steps done in just minutes in the course of my day. Later, while waiting on eggs to cook, I did some squats. A lot of my best exercise comes when I see a short opportunity, and step up to it.
We know that those who eat slow give their bodies time to realize satiety and eat less. I eat alone a lot and find this a challenge. Here are two ways I slow down:
I have learned that I too often set goals too high. Constant failure to make the mark discourages me and I fall away from trying. Now I set goals that are attainable, see that I can easily do that, then add a little until it becomes a challenge. I sit at that level until that, too, is easy; increasing in small increments to make it a challenge again. This practice is protecting me from discouragement so I can stay the course. Start small. Build big!
