Track & Plan Food in Advance

When I track my food daily and stay in the budget; I also take a few minutes end of day to track out the 'next day'. This keeps me positive w/ my food, my choices, and I plan a weekly menu as well ..........It all helps to be organized and stay on track day to day! emoticon It is worth the time!

Count backwards

When I do weight training, I count backwards (12 to 0) instead of forwards (1 to 12). This helps me trick my brain to thinking that I am completing an exercise sooner. Works for me!

Try different healthy foods, even if they look weird. You never know what you might like!

Ways I Deal with Stress

After work I have a long commute home, to relieve the stress I crochet. Not only am I distressing before arriving home but I am accomplishing/creating something at the same time. At home when things become stressful, I play video games, listen to my favorite music, dance, crochet or talk a long brisk walk. Any hobby you enjoy can be relaxing and help with relieving stress.

Track your food 1st!

No matter how big or small it is, if I eat or drink it, I track it. At first I just ate whatever and tracked it later to see what I consumed. Now I plan ahead and track my food BEFORE I eat it, so I can see whether I can afford to eat everything I planned or if it will be outside of my nutritional goals. I can then adjust if necessary before it's too late. :)

Help for Chocoholics

I love chocolate but obviously if I eat too much I'll get off track. So I keep the mini 3 Muskateers (about 1 inch square) in my freezer. They're 25 calories each and I'll pull out 1 or 2. Since they're frozen I have to eat them slowly. By the time I'm done my sweet tooth is satisfied! emoticon

Flaxseed

I try to put ground flaxseed in at least one food item each day; yogurt, meatloaf, casseroles, soups.

High Carbs & High Protein Combo for Breakfast

Whenever I eat a breakfast with high carbs (20g+) AND high protein (15g+), it's much easier for me to stay in calorie range. I know that the idea of high carbs so early in the day can sound scary, but as a member of SP for almost four years, I can assure you that this combined with protein will shut hunger pangs DOWN.

No TV unless...

I love my crazy dramatic "reality" shows. We have a DVR and just recently got a treadmill. I only allow myself to watch these shows while on the treadmill. Half of the time I don't even realize how much I have done!
