Whenever I eat a breakfast with high carbs (20g+) AND high protein (15g+), it's much easier for me to stay in calorie range. I know that the idea of high carbs so early in the day can sound scary, but as a member of SP for almost four years, I can assure you that this combined with protein will shut hunger pangs DOWN.
When I first started this weight loss, lifestyle change adventure I was under the assumption (with myself) that I had to completely cut out my all-time favorite food...chocolate! But a few weeks ago I broke down and had an Almond Snickers bar and dang near had a nervous breakdown for doing so. We often have days when we don't feel like working out, but usually once we get going we get in a groove and are in for the long haul. However, if your body is sending a stronger-than-usual signal that it's just not up for a workout today, it's ok to listen once in a while and take a break for a day. Sometimes we need a day of rest so that we're at our best when tomorrow comes.
The use of the cheat meal... Stop treating yourself with food. You are not a dog.. Don't derail all of your hard work by eating a meal that is going to leave you feeling disgusted during your next workout. Try eating half.
Losing an amount of weight can seem really daunting - I have 50lbs to lose and thinking of it like that it is such a big number. So to make it easier I make myself mini goals. Reaching the next decade, stone (I am from the UK). My next mini goal is that I have 3lbs to go and I will be half way there! Focusing on a smaller amount of weight to lose seems more do-able and inspires me to move onto the next mini goal.
Rich, moist coconut surrounded by a thick layer of chocolate. Whats not to like! I got these at Sam's Club after a taste test, and it blew me away! I can not believe just how good these are. And I don't have to feel guilty because I am not eating a candy bar with way more calories, fat and sugar. If you just can't cut the chocolate addiction, this is a wonderful little treat that I don't have to feel guilty enjoying every once in a while. :)
These bars come in a variety of yummy flavors and help me get more protein in my diet. They are 240 calories each so they can be a little heavy for a snack, but I do eat one every morning for breakfast. It's fast, convenient, and gives me energy to start my day.
So many of us relate scale loss to weight loss success. I am a person whose scale does not move on a consistent basis but my inches do. I have chosen to only weigh in once a week, and measure myself once a month - my measurements are more reflective of my success than my weight!
