Getting enough water is as easy as 1,2,3,4

Many say it's hard to get enough water. Here is how I worked up to getting my water:

1. 8 glasses is daunting, but 4 seemed easy. So I started with 1 glass with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack.

2. 4 was easy (8 still seemed like too much) so I made my 4 bigger. 4 bottles of water (16oz each) and suddenly I was drinking my 8 glasses.

3. I increased the size of my bottles by 4 oz at a time (first 20 then 24) now I drink 4 24 oz bottles

4. you can finish one bottle on any drive

Make hydration a habit

Drink 2 cups of water before you do anything else in the morning. You will feel the difference all day, and you will start recognizing the difference between hunger and thirst cues throughout the day.

Meeting my water goals

When I decided to cut out soda and drink more water, I bought a couple of brightly colored water bottles. I know it doesn't sound like much, but when I see the bright colors, my mood perks up a little bit-especially when I'm having a rough day at work! I also used to think water was so boring, but now I have the bright colors to distract me ;)

If I have had my latest meal and am still feeling "hungry" I drink a glass of water, fairly quickly, and wait 10 minutes.... Still hungry?

Reaching the water goal

When trying to reach you water consumption goal, use this trick. Buy 1 water bottle per 8oz-10oz you are trying to consume in a day plus 3 extra bottles. If your goal is 8 cups a day (the recommended) than buy 11 bottles. Keep the 8 that is your goal in the fridge and number them. This way you can see that you are reaching your goal and at what rate. Bottles also are very convent so you are more likely to go for that than anything else you may grab for convince.

What's healthy in the Junk Food You are craving after workout?

I've noticed that after a good workout, when I am suddenly "craving" some junk food like ice cream or something cheese-y etc, if I take a moment to think about what is in the food that might be soothed with a healthier substitute. For ice cream, I usually find a small container of Greek yogurt with fruits or some nuts satisfy my craving and give me good nutrients for my muscles after the workout.

Your "hunger" might be THIRST!

If I feel "hungry" when I know I shouldn't (it's not near a meal or snack time), that's a signal to me to go drink another full glass of water. 9 times out of 10, my "hunger" vanishes-- and I'm getting all my water in! emoticon

A simple way to curb mindless eating

If I'm wanting to eat I ask myself two simple questions:
Are you hungry? Are you willing to eat fruits or veggies?
If the answer to both of those is yes, then I know I'm truly hungry and I eat something healthy. If the answer to either of those is no, then it's off to drink some water and do something else.

Drink plenty of water

When I'm hungry, I reach for my water bottle first. Sometimes I realize that I'm just thirsty - not hungry. Before eating meals, I drink water so that I don't eat more than I have used to... emoticon Also, drinking more water has helped my energy level, reduced my headaches, and cleared my skin.

Getting your water on

An easy way to drink 8 glasses of water a day is to get a tall glass which holds 500 ml or 16 floz. Drink one when you wake up in the morning, another before lunch, again before dinner. Thats 6 down, just two more to go throughout the day and whilee exercising and your done.

Drink More Water

I bought 2 small cups that hold exactly 8 ounces of water! For some reason I find it easier to drink 8 small cups than make myself drink a huge water bottle! It breaks the water up into little servings and since I am always pouring it fresh each time, the water is cold! :)

Drinking More Water

Sometimes we think we are hungry when really we just need to drink some water! Seriously, my husband and I drink water when we think we are hungry, like late in the evening and wouldn't you know, we don't have the hunger pangs anymore!

Water on my daily list

Still struggling with water. Here's my latest idea. Many days I make a daily list of things that need to get done. So much satisfaction crossing out tasks. Well, I just put "drink water" on the list, except I broke it down. "Drink water am, drink water afternoon"....more chance to cross things off. emoticon

Vision Board & GOALS

I "vision collaged" my back of the door mirror, this way I "SEE" it all the time!!! Everyday, sometimes several times a day! Foods, Exercises, Physically fit bodies, places I want to go and things I want to do!! Anything that is something to strive for or look forward to I put it on the edge of that mirror. SO when I do that one last check in the mirror before I sweep out the door I know what I want in LIFE!!! EVerything I want to live for is there: Prayer, Familiy, Friends.Healthy Lifestyle!

Flavor your water

I like to add things to my water to make it taste better. A lemon or lime is a great start, but I want a bit more flavor. So I pick fresh mint from my garden and add it to lemons for a tasty treat. I've also seen people add cucumbers. Or even substitute the lemons for oranges.

If you don't like the taste of water

Add slices of frozen fruit to your water for a better taste. I buy a bag of mixed fruit but you can add almost any fruit. Strawberries, watermelon, raspberries, etc. It taste better than some of those taste additives from the store, and you get your fruit serving! I will mix up to a cup of fruit into my days worth of water and drink throughout the day.

Water water water!

If it's after 8 pm and I start to feel hungry again, instead of reaching for a snack I reach for some water. No calories, and filling my tummy with water usually helps me feel full until I go to bed.

Add fresh fruit, Lemmon, or mint to your water. It helps get you to your water goal for the day.

I was struggling getting in all my daily water intake until I started to add fresh fruit, Lemmon, or mint to my water. Now it helps me get to water goal everyday.

Enough Water

It can be a challenge to drink enough water in the day (especially if your busy). Every morning before I start work I set up for 16oz bottles next to my desk. Now I get my 8 cups in and I have no excuse not to be constantly sipping on a bottle of water.
