If I find I really don't want to go to the gym, I'll just say, "Fine, I won't go. But I'll put my gym shoes on." Once I have my gym shoes on, somehow I'm out the door. If you can't bring yourself to start working out, just try to take one small step in that direction. The first step is the hardest!

MORE INFORMATION:
I learned this in a group therapy class I did in cognitive behavioural therapy when I was suffering from depression. Sometimes the whole behaviour is too daunting, but you can ALWAYS do the first step.

    I have a wonderful pair of flip flop with an arch. I love them for walking!!!

    Putting my shoes on is the biggest battle for me. I hate putting my shoes on, and I hate wearing them, but I make myself at least put my shoes on to get me going. Sometimes, I make myself put them on in the morning so I'm ready to exercise at any point in the day.

    I knew a doctor who would tell her patients that you don't have to exercise, just buy a new fitness outfit and put it on, within a week the patients would feel silly just wearing it and actually start walking, etc... It worked every time!

    Have your gym bag in the car and go straight to the gym. If I come home I am less likely to get back out.

    As soon as I come home from work I change into my workout clothes no matter how long it will be until I go. Works every time! Gets you in that mindset!
