I keep special treats away from the main food storage ~ a bag of Dove Chocolates in a dresser drawer. This way I have to make a conscious decision to have a treat. Mindless gobbling is NOT an option! I also make sure I track when I have one, usually 2-3 times a week.

    I do the same. Then even though they are there, they can remain unopened for months and I don't feel the need or craving to pick some up while I'm at the store. It's so easy to just walk by it all or while standing in front of it, have no desire for any of it. emoticon

    This is a GREAT idea, Everlearning! i like to have "conscious indulgences" too--usu a couple times a week. And in fact those Dove's promises have been my favorite one for YEARS!

But lately I've found a new love: Slice up a pear, microwave it for one minute. Then break up 1/4 of a Black&Green organic dark chocolate bar over it and microwave one more minute.

You have to let it cool a bit before you eat it, but it REALLY satisfies that chocolate craving, is healthier than Dove's by far, and delicious. And doesn't wreck my food plan any more than a Promise use to...
