The best secret I have is leaving my debit card and checkbook at home. I may take $5 each day and try to return home at the end of the day with the same. Also I make sure I pack healthy snacks in my lunch box so that when I pass fastfood restaurants I have something to help fight the temptation

I don't carry my checkbook with me much of the time and I use my debit card for purchases. I got an extra check register and record all debit card purchases, or withdrawals from the ATM, in this. When I get home I set down and record all the transactions so I don't have to keep track of all the receipts. This has made balancing my checkbook a snap.
