Take The Stairs--Not Just For Climbing

Do a whole body mini workout on the stairs. Do one set (15-20 reps) of:

-Stair-push ups (like wall push-ups, but uses more of your body weight)
-Step-ups (take two stairs if you can)
-Single-leg calf raises
-Then sprint one flight up and back down.

Repeat as many times as you can in 10 minutes .

I have stairs at home, and can manage to fit in this mini work out three times a day.

    Good idea....have been using stairs for up-and-down stair work, but hadn't thought of the push-ups or step ups. I also use mine to stretch calf muscles by standing with my toes on the stairs and slowly lowering and then raising my heels.

    Awesome idea. I've worked in a 20 story building for many years. I never thought of using the stairs except for going down or up one floor or during fire drills. Just recently, I got the idea to spend ten minutes on the stairs instead of going across the street for an ice cream cone during my break. Now, I might add some strength training into the mix. These are great ways to get a bit of a workout when I can't devote time to a full workout.
