One way I make sure I clock my exercise minutes is to plug in my goal time into the machine and tell myself I can get off whenever I want. That way there's no pressure, but I have my goal in sight. I usually end up staying on the whole time and I feel great about it in the end.

THe amazing thing about any exercise...is that you feel great once you finish.
I wonder why some of us fight it, delay it and avoid it:-)!

Yes, I love this strategy, too!
That usually works after I had to employ my #1 strategy for the "don't feel like it" days - which is like the Nike commercial... get out and:JUST DO IT!!

I just bought a whole season of a show on DVD; when I am on the treadmill that keeps me very distracted. It was well worth the used DVD at $5!!!

Much of the time I do a distance goal.

nice idea. I often distract myself with reading or music. Usually I'll try to reach a goal, like 5K distance or number of steps or amount of time.

Exercising is very deceiving...it makes you think you are working but reality is that the feeling you get afterward is so amazing it's worth it.
