Never belong to the clean plate club. When you sit at the table and eat try to push yourself away from the table by leaving something on your plate and try to stop eating before you become stuffed and your body becomes uncomfortable.

Try to avoid eating what you see advertised on t.v.
If you're interested in decreasing the amount of over-processed foods in your diet, try this tip--avoid eating foods you see advertised on t.v. (Michael Pollen) We all know that fruits and veggies are our best choices in what to eat, but there does not seem to be enough advertising dollars to remind us of this. If you see it advertised on t.v.--from fast food to even some 'nutrition' bars, chances are it's got too much of the bad stuff in it. Try eating as much fresh food as possible.
When I go out to eat, I find it helpful to go straight for the healthiest section of the menu, whether it is the salads or a complete "Light menu." I don't even bother looking at the rest of the menu because that makes things too tempting.
Another tip, when eating out with a bunch of people, make sure to order first. That way, if a friend orders a calorie dense, grease dripping delicious cheeseburger, you are not tempted to follow in his footsteps and do the same.
Had problems with flatulence? Tips: 1) Eat SLOWLY and chew your food thoroughly - the faster you eat the more oxygen you swallow. 2) Don't drink through a straw for the same reason. 3) Avoid greasy foods. 4) Take SIPS of a non-carbonated beverage between bites of food. 5) Avoid carbonated drinks. 6) Don't overeat and force your stomach into overdrive.
