Cutting out salt will actually increase your chance of heart disease and fat retention and slower metabolism, among other things. I used to do no salt than did some research and now eat a lot of salt. (see additional note for women)

For women... Once I added a significant amount of salt back into my plan, I no longer get any water retention at that time of the month, none. All my life I always gained like 5 lbs in water weight and now that I eat a Tbsp a day, I have NO water retention, ever.
