Yoga Deep breathing is a great way to cut the stress. Practicing breathing in Yoga, and during exercise engraves proper breathing on our beings. Then, when we are faced with stressful situations, we can easily fall into proper breathing to help us deal with the stress.
Breathe in and out using the diaphragm, breathing through your nose.

Even though breathing is an automatic reflex for each of us, did you know that during stress, people temporarily stop breathing at a normal rate? During stress and other crises, our bodies temporarily react to stress by breathing at very shallow levels. We do not stop breathing, but our bodies get less oxygen into our lungs during stressful times. Here is a great (as all SP articles are great) article from SP re how to do relaxation breathing. I have combined two stress reduction techniques - meditation and spirituality. Every night before I go to bed I listen to the day's installment of the Daily Audio Bible. (I set a goal of listening to the entire Bible in one year. So far, the streak is alive.) I follow that with Yoga Nidra meditation, leading me to sleep. It allows me to reflect on the day in positive terms, plan the next day, and sleep soundly.
