I take vacations by going tent camping 1-2 nights at a time, 4-5 times per season. Hauling all the gear out to my car, setting up camp, & doing chores that I don't do at home such as hauling water and firewood, cooking over the fire, or taking a hike to the dumpster to dispose garbage, are opportunities to get activity in, and also to get a greater appreciation for modern conveniences. The extra R & R gives me a chance to reflect on my goals, & come home rejuvenated & ready to face my challenges
Whether camping or taking a day trip, going to a park that offers activities is a fun way to get in some fitness vacationing. Look for parks that have things like hiking and biking trails, beaches, boat rentals such as kayaks, canoes & paddle boats, horseback riding, geo-caching, golf and more.
When cooking over the campfire and your pans get all black on the bottom and hard to clean. Use Liquid Dish Soap rubbed on the bottom of the pan, and it makes it super easy to clean the bottom of the pan.
CAMP FIRE STARTERS! Dryer Lint and paper toilet holders
LOVE camp fires and home fires and smores.. We have started recycling toilet paper rolls and the lint from the dryer... We stuff the lint into the cardboard paper towel holder and then put it in a grocery plastic bag for storage.. when it gets full we store it with the firewood and our camping supplies.. We always stuff at least two in the fire with our kindling to start fires.. Its like steel wool, flamable and it works great, plus who would have known to recycle dryer lint for flint starters?
