I have found it hard to stay focused for 40 minutes on the Elliptical Machine. So, I started to add strength training to my cardio by doing 10 min on the Elliptical, then a few sets of strength training, 10 more min on the Elliptical, a few more sets of strength exercises. I've found this keeps your Heart Rate up, motivation high and burns a ton of calories, while strengthening your body.

I find something that really makes cardio exercise much more enjoyable is to first improve flexibility, then strength, and then increase cardio.
Since cardio exercises are associated with weight loss, it is easy to become focused on the scale and forget about the other two aspects of fitness. Being flexible and strong makes cardio exercise much less of an ordeal so walking, biking, etc. becomes more pleasant when the body moves with ease.
