Exercise Early

I think getting my exercise in first thing in the morning is what works for me. If I get it done early, it's taken care of and I don't have to try to find time later in the day. I also think I get a better workout because I'm not tired. emoticon

  • I agree with you - not only is it easier and you don't have all day to only 'think' you will find time, but you feel good all day and you set the scene and don't want to mess up your good work by eating badly. Kelly has a great point about the bonus exercise too!

  • I agree- it is easy to miss working out if it does not happen first thing in the day. Thanks for helping to keep this important tip fresh on our minds. emoticon - by GARDENSFORLIFE
  • Yup, this is what works for me, too! I work from home and you would THINK that would leave me more options for work-out time, but it really doesn't. First thing in the morning...before my 'day' begins is what is keeping me going! - by JUSTJENNN
  • I walk in the mornings, five o'clock I am on the road walking. That works for me. - by AMBER461

  • Yes! Getting a workout in before work definitely eliminated the coffee I always needed to help wake up! It makes me feel refreshed and good about myself, making my day a great day already! Plus, there's never anybody there, so I don't feel so self conscious! - by STEPHANIS_07
  • I love in the morning. - by DELLMEL
  • I agree. I like to do my exercising in the morning when I am motivated, energized, and have no other diversions to interfere with how much time I have to get it done before I start another project for the day. - by J2740LOU

The first thing in the morning is the best time for me too!!! However, after I get my walk in, and then my balancing exercises, I'm too tired to immediately go to the stretching wall, so I do that after lunch. It's a win, win situation!!!

I love, love, love to work out first thing. I'm not quite a wake until I do and then I'm prepped for the rest of the day. Now mind you< 3 to 4 days a week, my day starts with Ashtanga (Power) yoga (45 min), that has a small meditation period (small), and then later in the day, twice a week, or more (if I didn't do my yoga) I work out in the stairwell at work (20 flights of stairs/20 steps each level ~ mixed with leg crunches, abs and push-ups). It's a work building with cameras so I'm never alone.... and it's also got good ventilation ~ so I'm lucky. If I don't work out, I become a monster, lol In the two methods I've chosen, I get to meditate, too ~ so it's a 3 fold thing for me. emoticon - by DEBSTRESS

  • I am trying to make myself do this...even if it's just a little bit. - by PYNETREE
  • I know this is the best plan; unfortunately, doesn't always work out for me. So far, tho', have been pretty successful at planning for it later in the day when I don't fit it in in the morning.

  • I am very tired in the morning it takes me a while to wake up and get started. I am not usre if I can get up and out and feel alive enough to exercise the first thing in the morning. However with that said I do understand the concept of getting it done and out of the way. - by HYATTI1
  • I like the thought of getting up early for exercise, I will need to train me to get to bed earlier if I add this to my plan. I am so looking for balance. - by BAPSANN
  • I do work out in the morning, if I wait until later it will not happen.
That way I am off to a great start as well. emoticon - by INGMARIE

  • I try to exercise early, because I, too, like to "check it off my list" -- and any other exercise I get in is BONUS!!! - by KATHYC1980
  • I've been getting up at 5 AM to work out for over 10 years. It starts the day off on a healthy note! I head off for a busy day feeling like I've already accomplished something. When I get home from work and I'm bombarded with husband, kid, dogs and cat I have time for them because I've already taken care of me. emoticon - by IAMSHE-RA
  • I've also noticed that when I exercise first thing in the morning, I usually end up getting "bonus" exercise by walking in the afternoon or evening. It really helps my weekly exercise minutes add up fast! - by KELLYBW3
  • Totally agree with you! Although is is not always easy to get up before the sun, I fell WONDERFUL once I finish my workout at the gym. No waiting for machines or worrying about how I look while lifting weights or doing cardio! Takes a few weeks to get into the rhythm though. - by BHIBBARD
