To cut out the usual clutter caused by tossing clothes and jackets on the floor at the end of a hectic day or having tons of papers, books and magazines stacked everywhere, designate a place for everything. When you see your self about to recause the clutter, try to stop yourself in your tracks and place the item(s) in its proper place to begin with. That may seem hard to begin with but trust me it will save time and sanity in the long run:)

Write on the Manual Cover: purchase date, where bought, warranty info, service plan. Instead of a box or file for all manuals...tape the packet to the item or keep in the same room as the appliance in a designated spot. TOSS the old manual when you toss the item. Staple the receipt to the booklet. Mail registration form right away! This will make life SO MUCH easier when you have to downsize or sell or give away the product. Attach hardware: allen wrench, brackets. 148
Opens drawer space, file space and everything is at your fingertips when you need it in a hurry.
my rule of thumb, if i havent used it in 6 months, no matter what it is (clothes, makeup, etc) i throw it out or donate it...it keeps me from having excess stuff that i havent used in 5 years cluttering up for no reason...i figure if i havent used it in 6 months, i dont need it and its taking up space...im a neat freak though :)
