Sometimes I get the munchies after dinner. So, instead of eating junk food while watching tv, I postpone dessert for about 1 hour after dinner. I do the dishes, clean up the kitchen, watch a little tv, and it's nearly 8 pm - my usual time for the munchies.
This satisfies my sweet tooth, desserts are portion controlled, and it stops the mindless snacking at night in front of the tv.
After dinner, I sometimes need to satisfy my sweet tooth. Instead of grabbing a calorie-filled dessert, like pie or cookies, I reach for a dessert flavored gum. My favorite is Wrigley's Extra Dessert Delights sugarfee gum in Key Lime Pie. It taste so good and satisfies my sweet tooth.
