When straightening up the house, work on one room at a time and put each item that belongs in that room In its rightful place. As you find things that don't belong in that room, put them together in one spot. Then when you have finished straightening that room, empty your pile of items that belong elsewhere one item at a time. You'll walk take a lot more steps walking back and forth to other rooms. When all the items have been put up, move to the next room and straighten it the same way.
Be sure when returning an item to a room you've already cleaned that you put it back where it belongs in that room. That will give you more steps than just setting it inside the door.

First thing in the morning and all throughout the day, wear your running shoes in the house. Somehow, it makes you feel like you should be getting up and moving and doing something, whether it is cleaning or exercising. Its easy to stay on the couch in your fuzzy wuzzy bunny slippers, but when you have running shoes on, it doesn't seem right to put your feet up in them!
My Mom puts on her shoes first thing when she wakes up and dresses. She can't sit still! She always is moving, moving and more moving! Cooking and cleaning or what ever.. She is moving constantly. She is a great example of an active lifestyle!
A good way to start being more active is to get up and stretch or do some light exercising in the commercial breaks while watching your favorite television show. Even if you just pace around the living room, you'll be more active.
A little activity each day can add up! Get moving!
Get your exercise in during every day living, no excuses, no gym needed. Do the hustle!! RUSH to everything you do. RUN to the biffy like you are afraid you won't make it!! Make several trips up and down the stairs fast to carry small loads of laundry each time instead of a big one. When tracking food, weigh one item, the rush to your computer to record it, then rush back to record another one, take many trips.. Don't walk when you can run!! Take the LONG way around!!
Any time you have to move, do it fast. Any time you have a commercial break from TV, do some activity to get moving. Put energy into every little thing you do. Clean that house like you are expecting a famous star. Put music on and rock to your chores!
