Ask, "Is It Important To Do This?

Members Were Sparked
This Sparked Me!

Teach after surgery, radiation and ongoing chemotherapy? I realized I could ONLY do what was important to help my students learn. 4 years later, I still ask, "Is this cookie important to my health?" "Is sitting in the recliner important to my goals?"

Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes no.

The point is, I now actually decide before I just DO IT. I now eat lots of F & V. My 45 minute fitness streak gets longer daily!

Is it important? The choice is mine.
What choices are you making?

To REALLY make this strategy work, you have to know what is deep-down important to you. For me, it's my health so the SP Nutrition Tracker is super helpful.

Make your Deep-Down Important list and create your visualization poster. Evaluate what you do based on that poster.

Marvyvalice, No, to me it helps me decide what to do. A friend asked recently what to do to lose weight when she was telling me she was looking into lap band surgery. When I asked what she ate yesterday, there were no fruits or vegetables in her list. So I suggested she eat a 1/2 lb veg and 1/2 lb fruit before she ate other things. She said she didn't like vegetables. Her choices were clearly based on likes/dislikes. If she asked, "Is my food plan good for my health?" she might be able to avoid lap band surgery. Is the question exhausting? No, it just demands you to face the issues.

isnt that sometimes exhausting, to make yourself make a decision about so many small events daily? but, i guess, that's how we make better decisions. thanks for your input.
