Long before becoming a Spark person I counted and record all my food calorie intakes, and found that the only true way to lost weight was by counting calories and changing your eating habits. Thanks to my doctor, I saw the light and have in the last year and half lost over 100 #'s.

Knowing the amount of calories you burn and the amount of calories you eat and doing this correctly allows for weight loss. Too many calories in - you can gain weight not enough calores in - your body goes into starvation mode and doesn't allow you to lose anyweight either.
