Secrets of Success

I have gained 90lbs in 8 months on medication. So my doctor has put me on adderall for ADHD to lose the weight, so far I have lost 26lbs in 4 months on the adderall. I eat normal which is pretty healthy and I exercise a little. I gained 50lbs before on seroquel and lost it on abilify. So medication can really do some damage. I take the meds for schizophrenia and have to be on them. I wish there were natural alternatives to the medication but the ones I have tried do not work for me.

damn! I've been on SERAQUIL AND RESPERIDONE for about 2 years and have gained 50 lbs! I'm currently started on a 1300 cal diet and lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks ... i should talk to my psych. about alternative meds .. I think they have really helped my mental wellness but probably made me gain alot of weight! emoticon - by TASHAPOWER80
  • I have bipolar disorder. I hated being on medication. I was so happy to have found a drug-free alternative to help me cope. In the morning I take Natrol 5-HTP 200mg. In the evening time, I take L-Theanine. You can get them from GNC or Amazon. I tried to post the info but was told my comment was too long. I would suggest doing your own research first. I started taking these January and couldn't be happier. If anyone has any other questions you can email me at - by VIOLET1NE
I weighed 120lbs in 2004. I began taking Risperdone for mental illness and gained weight to 276lbs in 2012. In January I switched my anti psychotic medicine from Risperdone to Latuda. Now in April 30, 2013 I weigh 222lbs. I have lost over 50 pounds. I walk every day and eat 1200 calories a day. I drink at least 10 glasses of water a day. I hope this is helpful for others on anti psycotic meds. emoticon - by LCLANCY

I have UC, Fibro and a couple other issues so I know the Rx's can really mess with your weight loss, righ now i am debating gastric bypass surgery. Anything to get rid of this wiehgt I have gained over the past few years. Due to illnesses and pain - resulting in a seditary lifestyle.
Now that My Rx'sare stable and I am feelign better i now starting to move more and feeling better about myself. Now to move more and loose the extream weight I have gained! - by GWEGNER
  • I have bipolar disorder (stable for now), have gained about 20 lbs in 4 years. My doctor thinks ambien might be causing me to eat during the night. I don't sleep eat but I do wake during the night and have a snack.Probably eat enough calories to explain the weight gain. With doctors encouragement I am decreasing ambien dosage.Wish I didn't take medications, but they are necessary. Just be cautious with suppliments and natural remedies. - by MUSICBOX55
