Whenever I turn down a high calorie food instead of feeling deprived, I note it in my food diary and the calorie content of that food. On days where I very nearly don't go to the gym I note that down also. At the end of the week, I tot up how many extra calories I would have consumed/ not burned and take it away from my loss. Seeing the weight I would still be had I given into these impulses keeps me on the straight and narrow. Instead of feeling deprived, I feel empowered! :)
When I feel deprived, I feel blue. When I feel blue I eat. This tip helps me to feel in control of my weight loss. Instead of thinking I am missing out, I feel proud of myself for resisting temptation, for not giving in. It tastes better than any cake.

I have been counting all my calories for several months. At first, it was a little time consuming but I put all my favorites in and it only takes me a few minutes a day now. I know it has helped because I've lost 12 lbs! It has helped made me more cognizant of what I'm eating and the nutritional values of the foods. It has helped keep me in check because I didn't want to write the candy bar I had so I just didn't eat it.
