I cook most of my meals in an electric rice cooker, which has a steaming tray. Better carbs, no extra fat, and no picking at it while you eat. If you're shopping, try to find a rice cooker with a steaming tray. If you can't find one, there are still lots of recipes you can make, and a lot of them don't even include rice.
I like to make multigrain rice in the bottom while steaming skinless chicken breasts, broccoli and mushrooms in the top, with my favourite seasoning. Works like a charm. You can make lots of other things too like Tofu and Asparagus, and more. Search online for recipes and be amazed!

Cook more than just rice in a Rice Cooker: Why hide away that rice cooker you got as a shower gift and only use it once in a while! I discovered it cooks hot cereals like Cream of Wheat or Red Mill grains--quickly, easily, with no boilover to clean up afterwards. I use mine to cook beans after soaking them--again, easy and no boilovers. And why not easily and gently poach a chicken breast the same way?
I was always making white rice because I didn't want to wait for brown rice to cook. I bought an electric rice cooker. Now I start the brown rice first, and by the time the rest of the meal is complete, the rice is too.
