I recently stopped using any credit card. I started taking only enough cash to buy what I am going out for and if I see something I think is a buy, I use that money only, and forgo something else on my list. I have found that I don't spend as much or have "buer's regret" nearly as much.
I also save something out of each trip to go in a tip jar. I am paying for a min vacation in a couple weeks with my change from shopping
I have a hard time getting rid of clothes I haven't worn but "might someday" fit again, so I made a rule for myself. For every piece of new clothing I buy, I have to donate two pieces to charity. This makes me think twice about buying something on impulse, and it helps clean out my closet. The charities benefit too. :)
