I use cooking time to sneak in a bit of exercise. If I'm standing by the stove, I do some squats. Pushups on the edge of the counter by the sink. March in place waiting for water to boil. You get the picture!

Do your laundry in the evening or on the weekends when electric rates are lower. I know you're tired when you get home from work and have to think about cooking, exercise, homework help, etc. Enlist your family's help! It's really an easy chore that everyone needs to learn anyway.
Let's face it. We all have busy lives. I know I'm putting in 10 hours a day at least usually. That doesn't leave a lot of time for cooking, exercising, and enjoying time with family. And cooking healthy sometimes takes longer and is less appealing than grabbing that fast food or quickly making something not good for you. So I plan my meals ahead for the week and make as many of them as I can on Sunday. I then freeze them and heat them up again on the day.
This is also a great way that you can then have all your food portioned out ahead of time. This has significantly helped me eat healthier and have more time to exercise and do the things I want to do for myself like reading.
While cooking, I try to incorporate some strength & toning exercises.
For example: while waiting for a pot to fill I do leg lifts; while mixing salad I do plies & releves; while waiting for something to boil I will do pushups against the edge of the counter; or while getting something from the pantry I will use cans or jars as weights for a few reps. 306
