This idea might not work for everyone, but if you're not too hung up on being spontaneous, it might help you: I went onto SP and checked out the menu in advance (using an online menu) and entered what I kinda knew I was going to eat. I actually got to eat stuff and enjoy it - it worked fairly well.
If I'm going to be dining out & know where in advance, I'll try to check out the menu ahead of time online and see what my options are. This way I can plan my meal, and any accomodations for eating in advance, before I get there. And, it means I don't keep everyone waiting while calculate the menu! 30
My daughter and I went out for lunch today, and the restaurant didn't have nutritional information available on line or on the menu. I remembered the SP article I'd read about "word clues" on the menu, and chose cedar-planked salmon with grilled vegetables. It was satisfying, well-prepared and within my correct range. Thank you, SP, for teaching me how to eat out without blowing the plan for the day.
