Secrets of Success

Reduce Stress & Be Happy!

I realized one day that I wasn't very happy and I had heard in Al-anon a quote by Abraham Lincoln "Most people are as happy as they decide to be". So I decided to be happy and knew I needed to reduce stress in my life. Then I saw a quote on FaceBook " Saying yes to happiness means learning to say no to things and people that stress you out." by Thelma Davis. That day I stopped taking on other people's issues and responsibilities. Since that day I try each day to decide to be HAPPY!

Life is very good today I am happy with what I have. If I had done this a few years ago, I may not have had by-pass surgery.

  • Well Said! Now I need to let it sink in and put it to practice. I have chosen to let go of situations, people that seem to stress me out, but that in itself, stressed me out..haha. Bouncing from one form of stress to another. HOWEVER, my new stress is easier to deal with as it is all about me, my attitude and how I am going to overcome it from within. I think this first step of joining sparkpeople was a great idea! Have a wonderful day! emoticon - by STILLMENEWBODY
Have you ever read anything by Melody Beatty? She has several books on co-dependency and that is what I think you were referring to. Setting boundaries, detaching from others pain and caring for yourself. I've read her books and read her daily devotionals. It's good stuff! Good luck on your journey. - by DANDEELUC
