After I buy a melon from the store I immediatly cut it up and weigh it out into ziplock bags. The look so enticing everytime I open the fridge and it makes it easy for me to grab and go. Plus I know how much to account for.

People sometimes look at me funny when I carry three or four bags of carrots to the scale. But pre-bagged fruits and veggies can vary in weight, and checking to get the heaviest bag gets me more for my money!
A "pound" of carrots may weigh more; weigh a few bags for extra savings. Heads of broccoli, stalks of celery, etc. can be checked, too.
I refuse to pay more for less. Those cute little individual packages of snacks for kids and other controlled portion needs are every where! They are bad for my budget and the environment. I just measure out 100 calorie servings or 1 serving size and store them in tiny reusable bowls with lids. The kids love to help and it might take me 20 minutes a month. It also helps to make sure i do not grab the whole box of cheese-its when watching a movie! 432
I also pre-cut celery, carrots and other fruits and veggies so they become a quick and covenant snack.
