Extreme Cravings Can Be Caused By Food Sensitivities

I have struggled with extreme cravings for years. Recently with my doctors approval, I went on a gluten free diet. What a difference!!! I always thought the cravings and mood swings were due to sugar and/or hormones. But wheat was the biggest problem!

More Information:

Sugar and dairy products can affect me too, but not as much as the wheat. It's a bummer that what I most crave is what has become toxic and I most need to avoid! The good news is that once I get off them, the cravings stop.

  • The doctor put me on the gluten-free diet as a trial to see if it would reduce fibro pain but after about two weeks I realized I'd stopped having "the screamies." Emotional outbursts, cravings - sometimes I knew what I wanted and sometimes not - that if ignored just intensified till I was pacing the floor and eating everything in sight trying to satisfy it. My hunger/ full regulator didn't really work at all until I got off gluten. Can't hurt anything to try it. Wait 2 weeks and compare how you feel. When I cheat, within 24 hours I am back to feeling restless, wanting to eat and not feeling full. Not to the extreme that I was when I had been eating gluten full-time, but enough to be disruptive. - by DNJOYS
  • I have thought that the same thing is happening to me too, and my son has a wheat allergy as well. What were your symptoms? I am thinking to try this on my own for a couple of weeks and see how I feel :) - by KNOPENS
