This Sparked Me!

I use sponges to wash dishes, those that are not dishwasher safe, Sponges can be washed on the top shelf of your dishwasher. After they cool check to see if any water can be rung out then microwave for 30 seconds to kill any remaining bacteria.

I use them and put a little clorox on them from time to time. Mostly I don't worry to much and pitch them out when they look cruddy. I air dry all my dishes. I figure that kills something instead of rubbing a potentially dirty towel on dishes that are still partially wet and put away.

I also have microwaved my sponges to keep them safe. Sometimes I soak them in water that has some Chlorox in it.
