Beginning I had a weight loss of 55 lbs. to lose, it seemed so daunting so I did smaller goals of 5 to 10 lbs. and celebrated each. Mentally, its a lot easier to stay on track looking at smaller feats than the larger one at hand.
Normally I would have given up before this point because the large goal seems so daunting constantly staring in my face. I had my mini goal and my overall written in a journal that I kept and watched my overall shrink as the months went on, now I have 13 more lbs. to go until I've reached my goal!

We all try to 'GO FOR THE GOAL', but it always seems so far away. If we choose 'mini-goals' for which to work, it sure makes the process more enjoyable. If you have 75 lbs to lose, it can mess with your head because we think that it will take us a long time to reach it, and get totally bummed. However, if you choose a mini-goal to work for, you have more joyful occasions that will help keep you motivated to work toward that ultimate goal.
If you start at 223, the first mini-goal might be at 220, then maybe 215. Then when you get to 200, you can have a little bit bigger celebration!!
Working toward those mini-goals sure does help me!
I set mini goals for myself because my big goal of losing 50 pounds is so overwhelming. My current mini goal is to lose 10 lbs before my future sister-in-law's bachelorette party, but I also set mini goals for each work out, for instance, run three blocks further today than I did yesterday.
Losing an amount of weight can seem really daunting - I have 50lbs to lose and thinking of it like that it is such a big number. So to make it easier I make myself mini goals. Reaching the next decade, stone (I am from the UK). My next mini goal is that I have 3lbs to go and I will be half way there! Focusing on a smaller amount of weight to lose seems more do-able and inspires me to move onto the next mini goal.
