Stepfanie Romine is editorial director at SparkPeople.com. A certified yoga teacher since 2009, she earned degrees in French and journalism from Ohio University and began her career in newspapers, as a copy editor, business reporter and columnist.

After more than a decade of disordered eating habits and an unhealthy obsession with dieting, Romine steadily gained weight in her early 20s. In 2005, while teaching essay writing in Seoul, South Korea, she joined a gym and committed to lose the excess weight. She shed almost 50 pounds and learned to love healthy living.

Until joining the SparkPeople team in 2008, Romine still saw exercise as an obligation. Since then, she has found her passion for fitness: She learned to ride a bike, started running, and took up hiking. She has a daily Ashtanga yoga practice and is training for her third half marathon. Exercise has changed her life, freeing her from anxiety and providing stress relief.

Romine recently moved to the North Carolina mountains, in search of a simpler life with healthy living at the forefront. The Spark Solution is her second book.

Becky Hand

SparkPeople Head Dietitian Becky Hand, R.D., M.Ed.

As a registered dietitian for more than 25 years, Becky Hand knows that a sense of humor goes a long way when introducing unfamiliar foods and developing new eating habits. She is passionate about improving the health and wellness of people in her rural community, as well as the lives of people throughout the world via SparkPeople. Whether it be during her weekly radio talk show, planting seeds at a school's veggie garden, bringing farm fresh produce to the hospital's cafeteria, coaching adults and children during their weight loss adventure, or tackling a tricky question on the message boards at SparkPeople, Becky is deeply dedicated to the mission of health improvement and disease prevention.

Hand lives in Indiana with her husband and two children. She is committed to having her family eat meals together at the kitchen table–it is often the only time to connect and catch up--and eagerly encourages other families to do the same.

Hand has a bachelor's degree in food, nutrition and dietetics from Marian College and a master's degree in health promotion and education from the University of Cincinnati. She also has a certificate in weight management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
