As the temperature climbs, don’t let your workout motivation fall.  With the right clothing and gear (as well as some extra precautions), you can enjoy outdoor exercise at any time of the year.  Here are some of our picks for the best workout clothes and accessories to keep you cool and motivated all summer long.
For Women

Silhouette Tank Top (sizes XS-XL)
This versatile tank from Lole provides a little more coverage than normal, and also comes in a variety of bright colors.  It has nice detail on the back (you can see it in the title graphic for this blog) and would be great for running or any outdoor activity!

Active Mesh Tank (sizes 1X-4X)
This sleeveless tank from Old Navy is a flattering fit for all body types thanks to its loose midsection and thicker straps.  Made of a breathable material, it will help keep you cool through the hottest of workouts.

Fleet T-Shirt (sizes XS-3X)
If you prefer a little more coverage, this loose and comfortable technical shirt for women is made of lightweight fabric with panels on the sides to allow for more air flow.  This shirt comes in a wide range of colors and sizes.

Mesh Shorts (sizes S-2X)
These Champion workout shorts have an elastic waist for comfort.  Made of breathable material, they are great for a variety of activities.  At this low price, you can buy more than one pair (which is good because you'll have a hard time deciding on just one color you like)!

Stripe Swagger Skort (sizes XXS-XL)
I was skeptical I’d like running in a skirt, but now it’s the only thing I wear when it’s hot outside.  The key for me was finding a brand with built-in shorts that don’t ride up as I move.  That’s why I love this running skort from Athleta, which has silicone grips inside the legs of the shorts to keep them in place.

Sweaty Bands ($7-$20)
These workout headbands are a popular workout accessory to keep the hair out of your face and sweat out of your eyes on a hot summer day.  Even better, they do not slip! Available in a variety of colors and patterns to compliment any workout attire, you can also customize your own design

For Men

Active GoDRY Muscle Tee (sizes S-3X)
Sun's out, guns out! This sleeveless men’s tee from Old Navy helps keep you dry and offers a variety of colors and sizes to choose from, all at a great price.

Tech T-Shirt (sizes S-3X)
This men’s tech t-shirt from REI can be a staple of any workout wardrobe.  Lightweight with an athletic fit, this versatile shirt will wick away sweat on even the hottest days.  ($24.50; available in sizes S-3X.)

Refueler 2-in-1 Shorts (sizes S-XL)
These men’s athletic shorts from Mountain Hardwear come with side pockets and an interior key pocket to stash your keys or energy gels when you're exercising outdoors.  Breathable fabric and a liner help pull moisture away from the skin to keep you comfortable on a hot day.

9" Mesh Shorts (sizes S-3X)
These C9 by Champion budget-friendly mesh shorts (available at Target) come in a variety of colors. If you're looking for a longer short that will still keep you cool—and won't break the bank—this is it.

Hot-Weather Accessories for Everyone

Runner's Cap
This running hat from REI is lightweight, well-ventilated and protective against the sun. It is available in a number of neutral colors for men or women.

Performance Super Visor
This popular visor from Headsweats comes in almost every color you can imagine!  Lightweight with an elastic band on the back, it will help reduce glare and keep sweat out of your eyes without trapping in heat.  They also offer an adjustable-size visor if your head isn’t average size.

Sunglasses
Sunglasses come in a wide range of prices, with lots of different options.  Depending on how fancy you get (changeable lenses, adjustable frames, etc.) you can spend up to $300 on a good pair of sunglasses.  If you’re like me and not that particular, you might be able to find a cheap pair at your local sporting goods store for $15 or less.

Water Bottle
Don’t forget your water bottle as you head outside for a workout.  Camelbak has a wide variety to choose from, including wearable options if you’re like me and prefer not to carry something in your hands.
